![]() đ¸CHERI Alliance Quarterly: new standards, new deployments, new opportunitiesDear , Oops! Weâre sending this again due to a configuration issue. Sorry if you get it twice! CHERI momentum continues to build: new standards, growing industry deployment, increasing regulatory interest, and the largest CHERI conference ever co-located with Europe's leading semiconductor event. In this edition, youâll find:
... and more! Why industry is betting on CHERI?CHERI is a free and open security technology designed to eliminate memory-safety vulnerabilities, the cause of around 70% of cybersecurity issues. Learn the basics and discover why adoption is growing. CHERI Ecosystem HighlightsThe leading Root-of-Trust now integrates CHERI security technology![]() If you are building secure hardware, the way you protect software running inside that hardware matters just as much as the cryptography around it. That is why lowRISCâs announcement that OpenTitan Earl Grey 2 will support CHERI is important. A new ETSI standard could rewrite the memory-safety debate![]() ETSI TS 104 198 establishes a common language for memory safety. Memory-safety vulnerabilities remain one of the largest sources of critical software vulnerabilities. Despite years of investment in safer languages, hardware protections, and secure development practices, the industry has lacked a common way to define and compare memory-safety technologies. That may be about to change. Latest CHERI Alliance Newsđ˘ Registration for CHERITech'26 is open! This year, CHERITech is bigger than ever! As CHERI adoption accelerates and the ecosystem matures, our co-location with SEMICON Europa / Electronica and its 80,000+ expected visitors, it will brings CHERI to the heart of the global semiconductor ecosystem. Join us on 12-13 November 2026 alongside SEMICON Europa 2026 at the NextSEMI Arena (Hall B0), Messe MĂźnchen, Germany for two days of talks, technical discussions, and networking focused on CHERI, memory safety, and secure computing. ![]() Why Attend?
How to register: CHERITech'26 is free to attend for all SEMICON Europa 2026 visitors. However, a valid SEMICON Europa 2026 ticket is required. 1ď¸âŁ Purchase a valid SEMICON Europa 2026 ticket A new standard released for CHERI SoCs![]() One of the challenges of building a CHERI-enabled SoC is that capabilities donât just consist of the data you can see in memory. They also have an associated tag bit, which needs to make its way safely through the system alongside that data. If we want CHERI systems to be built successfully from components supplied by different companies, we need to agree on how that works. This standard is intended to do exactly that: define a common way of transporting CHERI tag bits through an SoC, including mappings for widely used protocols such as AXI and CHI. Weâve now published version 0.9 of the standard. The reason it is version 0.9 is important: this isnât intended to be the final word. Weâd really like people building CHERI systems, interconnects and IP to read it, try to break it, and tell us what weâve missed. CHERI-Zephyr v0.4.0 Release![]() In this blog covering the fourth official development release of CHERI-Zephyr, Jennifer Jackson looks at whatâs already CHERI-supported in the kernel and highlight some of the key features added over the course of development. Whether youâre interested in porting an existing Zephyr application, exploring new projects, evaluating CHERI-enabled software, or simply seeing how CHERI changes the behaviour of real systems, thereâs plenty already included to begin experimenting. CHERI & CRA - What Does It Mean for Memory Safety?![]() From December 2027 the EU will enforce the Cyber Resilience Act which forces companies to take security extremely seriously for every device sold in the EU with a âdigital elementâ. Catch up on what you missed by watching the webinar recording, which covers details of the regulations and why this is expected to dramatically increase the demand for CHERI. More Recent Articles
About the CHERI AllianceThe CHERI Alliance is actively engaging with the industry to take over the promotion and dissemination of the standard and activate an ecosystem to make it a commercial success. Working GroupsMembers drive the evolution of the Alliance and participate actively to working groups focusing on technical or promotion matters. These groups are the perfect place to collaborate with leading companies and researchers, and accelerate adoption. They are currently focusing on porting various operating systems, publishing recommendations and accelerating the adoption of CHERI. Interested in joining the CHERI Alliance?By becoming a member, you'll have the exciting opportunity to join a vibrant ecosystem focused on CHERI enablement, promotion, and education. Together, we can ensure technical alignment and efficiently drive industry-wide adoption. As a member, you showcase your commitment to and passion for cybersecurity. You will benefit from added visibility, network and engage with like-minded companies and research facilities, gain access to a wealth of knowledge and resources, and get your CHERI solutions more visible.
